Essay on Is the American Dream Still Alive

The American Dream is an idea that Americans have lived by even before the term’s creation in 1931. Spreading the belief that in America, if you work hard, you can be successful and live better than your parents ever could. Although this iconic phrase does motivate millions of Americans to work towards a better life for themselves, a phrase is all it will ever be. Individuals will travel far and wide, navigate the whole Earth, and endure all the ways of agony and enduring, in the event that they trust that, at last, they will be compensated. That is the reason it shocks no one when individuals from different nations battle to get to America, trusting the antiquated story of the American Dream, persuaded that they will at long last become wildly successful in this place where there is wealth. In any case, they discover that it isn’t that way. The reality is that the American Dream does not exist, as many Americans are unable to improve their lives in a country that limits their abilities and gives them false hope.

One of the important aspects of the American Dream has always been the ability to experience higher education. But as the years go by, it has only gotten harder for students to go to college, with college tuition increasing much faster than anyone can catch up. This leads to student loans that haunt people for the rest of their lives. The amount of debt that Americans have has increased. This debt limits Americans’ ability to improve their lives, even forcing many new graduates to move back in with families just to save money so they could pay off their loans. Education promises to help us have success, but all the loans only push people down, not allowing them to reach the milestones they should like buying a home or getting married.

America is no longer the ‘land of opportunity’ as it has always been advertised. It is becoming harder than ever for people to improve their lives and status in society. The American Dream promises that no matter the situation, if you work hard, you can rise to success. However, this shows that there are many people who work extremely hard, but unfortunately, they are still limited in how far they can go in life. People are also becoming unable to achieve a better life than their parents, a huge part of the American Dream, according to a study by Stanford University researchers. This all reveals that it is harder than ever to improve your life as an American, which eventually leads us to conclude that the American Dream is no longer alive, it is dead and only remains as a string of fake promises and false hope, in a society that oppresses the majority of hard workers and rewards as little as possible.
