Growing up, my mom worked two jobs to make ends meet. Although Im grateful for my mom, thats not where I want to be in my future. I dont want to struggle with bills and not know where Im going to find the money to pay. I dont want to struggle with saving my money and then finally having money only for it to be gone towards bills again. I want a sense of comfort and security that no matter what happens Ill be secure. That I wont have to stress about where my next meal will come from or whether I will still have a roof over my head. My future isnt only for myself but for my mom as well so that she will be stress-free for the rest of her life. From personal experience, I have realized that the chances of achieving my goals are increased as I write them out or speak them into existence.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, said Lao Tzu. I believe in this statement wholeheartedly, but to begin the journey, I have to take the first step, and thats to ask myself where I see myself in five years. Not every journey is easy and successful, but a good journey requires that one knows where he or she wants to go, thats why the question Where do I see myself in five years is critical for my future. In my mind, I have a vision of how I see myself in the future, and I know that I have the perseverance and determination to seize my dreams. I have the fortitude to take my dreams out of my mind, use them and turn them into my future.

In order to start my journey, I aim to get a higher education. First, I plan to graduate high school with as many scholarships as I can, be in the top ten percentile in my class and have a 4.5 GPA. While going through my last year of high school, I will work part-time to save money while trying to maintain my grades, so they dont drop. Im saving so that Ill be able to buy a car and get used to being independent as my mom wont be buying me everything anymore. After graduating, I intended to go to a university, either FAU, FSU, or any other university since Im still open to options. During university, I aspire to major in both Arts and Forensic Science and get my masters degree in both.

As a kid, I thought I knew what I wanted to be and that was a nurse. However, as I got older, the fire for nursing soon turned into a candle, then a flame, and then it burnt out. I realized that wasnt who I wanted to be, and then I started getting into crime shows. From there on I found myself indulging deeper into the crime world and I knew that was what I wanted. I intend to become a CSI (crime scene investigator) and work small crime jobs here and there to get some experience in the field so that Ill be ready for the real thing while studying at university. Ive always had a talent and burning passion for art, so it isnt anything new when I major in it. I want to have a career in both, with being a CSI as my main job and art as my side job to make a little extra money, however, I wont be unhappy with the idea of combining both to have another career, such as a forensic artist.

It doesnt matter how long itll take for my journey to reach the end, whether it takes two years, five years, or ten, I intend to finish it. Whether I take the long way that cant be found with a GPS or a shortcut that everyone passes through, Ill be happy with my decision because I know that I have what it takes to be successful. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, my single step is making this plan and going through with it.
