My critique is about a restaurant my husband and I visited for our 15th anniversary. When my husband and I arrived at the restaurant, we read online reviews that said ‘very good service’, ‘delicious fresh food’, and ‘one of the best deli cuisines in the world’. We believed everything until we arrived, at which point we realized it was all a lie, in my opinion.
First and foremost, we were assigned a rusty table directly in front of the toilets, which smelled like a sewage factory. The terrible excuse was that there were no other tables available, even though I had reserved a table in advance. I was devastated and embarrassed by the service, even though a customer should never feel embarrassed for a manager or staff. Furthermore, we were forced to leave at 9 p.m. because another customer had reserved the same small rusty table as my husband and me.
Second, we had to wait around an hour to be served, and after a long and boring wait, we considered ordering takeout because of how long we were waiting. Because of the poor service, my husband and I were starving to death. This was the ugliest service we’d ever seen. With no lobster left, we were forced to switch to meat for our main courses, which was embarrassing. Not only was there no lobster, but only three of the eight main courses were available on the menu. My husband was as red as a tomato and his mood had shifted negatively as a result of that terrible service.
Our main course arrived much later than expected. My husband and I both ordered the same thing, which was a steak and mashed potato dish that had an entire pot of salt in it and was inedible because the steak was stone cold. It didn’t stop there; the portion size resembled a child’s portion.
Furthermore, when served, the waiter spilled the red as-blood sauce on my white dress, which was extremely expensive and would have cost a fortune to replace, despite our repeated assurances that we would do it ourselves. It turns out that the staff has a brain like a fish that forgets every 5 seconds. To make matters worse, when my husband asked to speak with the manager, there was no response. When we asked to see the manager several times while we were there, the waiter ignored us each time. It was frankly awful.
Overall, visiting this restaurant left my husband and me with the most unpleasant impressions. This is definitely not a place we will be returning to and recommending to others.
