Tuck Everlasting’ by Natalie Babbitt: Review Essay
I am now currently finished with the second half of the book ‘Tuck Everlasting’ by Natalie Babbitt, and in this essay, I want to share my thoughts on it.
The second half of the book starts off with the man in the yellow suit knocking on Winnies door. The grandmother answers, and he tells her he knows where Winnie is. The grandmother was probably thrilled to find out where Winnie was hiding. Tuck was very nervous about all of it. It was too dark out and too late out for the Tucks to look, and it was also too late out. I would look anyway for the horse thief even if it was pitch dark out or very late, it just made me feel better getting a huge thing off my chest and a sense of relief. The man in the yellow suit now owns Treegap since he told the fosters who kidnapped their daughter. I personally would not really like selling Treegap, but they had no other choice. The man in the yellow suit tells them that he would sell the pond for money. The man in the yellow suit then tells them that his grandmother knew a family, that never aged since they drank from the water in the pond. I would already be very confused about someone just telling me that someone doesn’t age from just drinking water. The man in the yellow suit was very willing to find the family that has drunk from the pond, but all of a sudden the man gets a hold of Winnie and starts to want him to drink the pond water. Helpfully Mae shoots him with a gun. What made me very annoyed in the story was that Mae sadly has to be locked up even though she was doing the right thing, and Winnie just goes home. Soon enough the man in the yellow suit suddenly dies, and when Winnie arrives home, Jesse goes to tell her goodbye. She then gives her a bottle filled with spring water to drink so they can marry. Winnie pretends to be Mae sleeping so the Tucks get very far as possible from Treegap. Winnie helps Mae break out of jail since was not supposed to be there. She then sees the toad about to be eaten by a dog, she then sprinkles the spring water that Jesse gave her onto the toad. The Tucks visit Treegap many years after they see that all the woods were burnt in a fire. But Tuck realized that she had made the good decision of not drinking the spring water.
Natalie Babbitts ‘Tuck Everlasting’ was very interesting to read about and very enjoyable too. I would definitely recommend this book to many people, it is very understandable and fascinating to read about.
