Accounting Affairs and Fundamental Mathematics
Modern society, having a highly developed system of commodity-money relations, is experiencing an ever-increasing need for specialists who perform accounting work. A person in this profession is not just an employee in the financial department of an enterprise or organization. This is one of the most important elements that allow one to control the stability and correctness of the business mechanism. I am expected to become an accountant, and I fully realize the significance of fundamental mathematics for my future career. Below, I will discuss the correlation between accounting affairs and the mentioned fundamental mathematics, proving that the latter serves as a foundation for the former.
Any accounting calculation always has a mathematical basis with its laws and concepts. In order to calculate VAT or other accounting calculations, one needs knowledge of fundamental mathematics and the ability to solve its problems. It can be claimed that accounting cannot exist without knowledge of mathematics and the ability to apply it in practice. The appropriate definition of accounting can be formulated as follows. This is a system based on the principles of mathematics for accounting for the property and obligations of an enterprise, financial performance, and business operations conducted by it.
In practice, an accountant must perform any arithmetic operations, with the calculation of both simple and compound interest, be able to use a matrix model of the relationship of accounts, as well as algorithmize accounting processes and draw up a mathematical description of an account. Fundamental mathematics has features that make it unique and essential in this regard. The first is a strict, not allowing any deviations, definition of the rules for building relationships, that is, mathematical formulas. The second is that when deriving formulas, a system of axioms is first postulated, and then, founded on them, mathematical formulas are built. All of the above features make mathematics a universal analytical tool for all areas of knowledge, and accounting is no exception.
It seems reasonable to note the fact that no accounting system can exist without such basic mathematical abstractions as figures and numbers. Arithmetic operations, which are operations performed on both numbers and symbols, are mathematical abstractions. It should be emphasized that one of the most important ways of applying mathematical methods in accounting is a computational operation. The latter is based on the construction of mathematical models of the processes under study and the implementation of these models using information technology. This circumstance shows, in particular, the direct need to apply the basics of mathematical modeling in accounting. For example, for the purposes of creating accounting mathematical models, abstract combinatorial objects called graphs are almost ideal. Indeed, from a mathematical point of view, any journal of business operations is a table that contains all the information necessary to determine the graph. Among these are accounting nodes and pairs of corresponding accounts (arcs).
The mathematical model of accounting has the prospect of being percieved and accepted by specialists in any country in the world because the language of mathematics has the necessary uniformity in understanding. The global mathematical model of accounting and the formation of financial statements is the key to mutual understanding between accountants. Its construction is based on the concepts of correspondence of accounts and accounting entries in terms and elementary operations of matrix algebra.
To conclude, I have stated that my future profession will be accounting, as well as demonstrated the importance of fundamental mathematics for this job. The explored basics of accounting revealed its dependence on crucial categories and tools from the area, including, particularly, mathematical modeling. It seems apparent to me that my success in this profession will be considerably defined by my achievements within the scope of the subject.
