Environmental sustainability is arguably the most topical issue that needs to be addressed today. In many regions of the world, it is still extremely challenging to introduce environmentally sustainable practices and strategies. Several measures have to be implemented worldwide to ensure sustainable development and reduce major obstacles to it, such as climate change or air pollution.

I believe that one of the most necessary, realistic, and economically feasible changes that we need to focus on is the introduction of institutional changes. Both large and small organizations have to establish policies that will require all the employees of those organizations to adhere to certain principles of environmental sustainability. Developing a corporate culture that fosters such practices will help many people to acquire habits that will make environmental sustainability an integral part of their lives (Halisçelik & Soytas, 2019). These practices can include different things, such as encouraging employees to use eco-friendly lighting at home and in the office, introducing recycling and reusing programs, and organizing volunteer programs for the companys employees.

Another measure that is, in my opinion, necessary to implement in the nearest future, is sustainable production. I think it should be made obligatory for all major manufacturers to use systems and processes that are non-polluting and conserve natural resources (UMass Lowell, n.d.). I realize that it may be too expensive for many companies to replace their sources completely. However, I am convinced that at least a certain percentage of goods and services can be produced according to the principles of sustainable development. In the long term, enterprises are only going to benefit from this approach.
