Ecological Footprint and Ways to Improve It

Ecology plays a significant role in human life, and with the development of new technologies which harm the surrounding atmosphere, people are becoming more conscious about their footprints. According to Wackernagel and Goldfinger (2018), ecological footprint measures a persons activities that affect the global environmental situation. Those activities include the use of land and natural resources. People can change their habits to become more environmentally friendly and protect their future.

Recycling is one of the main activities which does not take a lot of time and effort, and the general outcome of this action is positive. Paper, plastic, and can recycling may become a starting point for people who want to improve the level of their ecological footprint. Plastic pollution is one of the common problems which affects the lives of both humans and animals. My family and I usually avoid plastic bags while shopping, and we try to transfer this habit to our friends and other family members. The creation of solar panels has also helped decrease the amount of consumed energy and make its negative effect less negative.

Nevertheless, I am not an excellent example of a person who follows all ecological rules, and some bad habits, which undesirably influence environmental stability, exist. For instance, taking a hot shower and using warm water while washing the dishes are the main points that should be improved as heating boilers negatively affect the ecology. Moreover, with the development of new technologies, it is becoming more complicated to live without smartphones, laptops, and other electrical supplies. The use of electricity, in this case, is enormous, and it is crucial to find ways to avoid an extreme consumption of technologies in the future.
