In this class, we have read two plays, Trifles, and Sure Things. This year was different from the other years because, in the previous years, the teacher would have his students take part in the play in the classroom, but due to COVID-19, we were unable to do that. Since this pandemic started, hanging out with friends has been different, it is not as joyful anymore, and it seems like it is holding us back from having fun. Therefore, I am doubtful about my experience because I dont know if I would have preferred to take place and play the role of the play in front of the class or just read the play or listen to my colleagues read it to us via collaborate. I guess I am satisfied with how it went because I still felt like we still did something interesting even with the circumstances.
Trifles, a one-act play by Susan Glaspell in 1916. In this play, the women, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters have pieced together the clues and solved the mystery of Mr. Wrights death. Therefore, they agreed to hide the evidence of Minnie Wright killing her husband John Wright. Is the Basic concept of friendship being there for each other in whichever moments? How far can friendship go, does friendship go over the law, But Mrs. Hale, the law is the law . Getting involved in a serious case like this would be a big decision to take, hiding evidence of first-degree murder is taking a big risk.
At the same time, the Sheriff was in the house looking for cold hard facts . The sheriff is likely to try to find something large. Mrs. Hale, Mrs. Peters, has succeeded in distracting the Sheriff from the truth that they are hiding. I tell you, its queer, Mrs. Peters. We live close together and we live far apart. We all go through the same things its all just a different kind of the same thing. Mrs. Peters is having a hard time helping her friend because she is sitting between two chairs, on the first one she has the duty of the law, and on the other one the duty to a fellow woman, a friend. I think that even though they might not want to get involved at first, they still need to help and feel some togetherness because they could have been in the same place.
To finish, the pandemic has changed our way of learning and it is taking us apart from learning as a group. We now must be on our own and not be with the class. The pandemic has changed the way we should have done this class. We could have been in the library having people take place in acting for the play, but the pandemic took that from us. Dont forget, like said Mrs. Peters But, Mrs. Hale the law is the law . The truth seems to somehow always come out. I dont think that risking being an accomplice of murder is a smart decision even though it might be a good friend. It does not mean that you cannot support your friend but nowadays decisions need to be made with care. Friendship goes to a certain expense and putting yourself at risk in a first-degree murder should not be a choice.
