Vitamin D deficiency is a major contributor to Michiganders higher-than-normal rate of osteoporosis. In order to absorb calcium, vitamin D is required. It also plays a role in keeping healthy bones and muscles. Michiganders can reduce this problem of osteoporosis by consuming foods rich in calcium and vitamin D.
