Martha Rogers Science of Unitary Human Beings

Introduction

Nursing is an evolving field since it borrows a lot from modern researchers and medical practitioners. The videos viewed in class present some of the leading theorists who managed to influence the quality of care available to many patients. The discussion below focuses on the video Martha Rogers Science of Unitary Human Beings and the lessons gained from it.

Reasons for Selecting the Video

The main reason for selecting the targeted video was to learn more about Martha Rogers outstanding nursing model. Most of the articles and publications studied in class reveal that the theorists ideas have continued to empower many nurse practitioners (NPs) to offer exemplary services. Proper knowledge of Rogers Science of Unitary Beings can guide me to improve my philosophy and support different patients. I will also use the ideas gained from the video to inspire my teammates.

My Personal Philosophy

The completed exercise has revealed that most of the concepts and aspects associated with my nursing philosophy resonate with those of Martha Rogers. For example, my ultimate objective as a nurse is to promote the health outcome of every patient. This idea borrows a lot from Rogers model because it seeks to maximize the well-being of all individuals. The theory goes further to describe nursing as a practice that should be informed by patients surrounding environments and energy fields (Karnick, 2014).

Every caregivers main role is to focus on the holistic needs of the targeted people. Similarly, my philosophy is founded on the four meta paradigms of nursing. This means that I always examine my patients from all perspectives in an attempt to develop superior care delivery models. The theory also supports the use of emerging scientific knowledge to improve patients health outcomes. The only missing aspect in my philosophy is the importance of continuous learning. I will improve this area in order to achieve my objectives.

Analysis

The selected video has presented two issues that surprise me. To begin with, the theorist asserts that every unitary being and the environment are nondichotomous (Smith & Parker, 2015). This aspect indicates that nurses should examine all people from a universal point of view. Such an approach can promote the delivery of high-quality health services. Secondly, the theorist believes that diseases and individuals health statuses form a continuum. This is a clear indication that caregivers can achieve positive results even when they are supporting patients with terminal illnesses.

Recommending the Video: Acquired Values

I will recommend this video to my fellow students because it offers numerous concepts that can result in better nursing practices. Some of them include the focus on unitary beings, the importance of energy fields, and the desire to improve ones care delivery model (Karnick, 2014). Such attributes will encourage many practitioners to provide high-quality services.

The acquired values gained from the selected video will continue to improve my philosophy. The first one is the identification of the surrounding environment as part of the nursing process. The second one is that lifelong learning is needed to acquire superior ideas for empowering patients. Finally, positive results will be realized if caregivers appreciate nursing as both a science and an art (Smith & Parker, 2015). These values can ensure that many patients record positive health outcomes.

Conclusion

The above discussion has revealed that Martha Rogers theory is a powerful tool for guiding many nurses. Those who use it will find it easier to deliver exemplary medical services and improve their philosophies. Health professionals who want to achieve their potential should, therefore, embrace the concept of lifelong learning.
