Mindset of a College Students

Despite being an important aspect of human life, mindset is not taught at school and sometimes even at home. Since childhood, people already have a certain way of thinking, either fixed or growth mindset. A growth mindset is exactly what helps people not only at school, college, and then at work, but also in life in general (Dweck 35). However, all these educational institutions serve as steps in the development and definition of the quality of human life in society.

At college, students are in an environment of constant competition and face new challenges that help them to get ready for the next transition work. Students future depends on their success in college since it defines whether they will work in the company of their dreams or will be stuck in a hopeless position at a small office.

To be successful in college, a person must have a strong mindset, i.e. to be stubborn, to strive for new knowledge, not to be afraid of difficulties and failures, and not to give up, no matter what. College students have to face the fact that no one is obliged to monitor their progress or motivate them to work harder. Constantly developing a growth mindset, a person becomes self-sufficient and does not need outside support. It helps expand strong psychological stability and the ability to cope with certain stress, for instance when a student fails an exam or a test.

In conclusion, the growth mindset helps students be more confident, fearless, independent, and open to everything new, which will lead them to success in any area of their lives. A growth mindset is a skill that is sometimes underestimated in modern society since people believe that for becoming successful it is enough to be just smart and a workaholic. However, success is determined not only by knowledge but also by skills, the ability to think positively, to find solutions even in seemingly hopeless situations, and not to give up at the first difficulties.
