Nurses Average Payment and Compensation

It has become much easier to find the information concerning ones potential workplace on the Net. However, the necessity to understand the payment mechanisms and nature still persists. The following paper is focused upon the differences in nurses average payment, bonuses and benefits, and the opportunities of using this information in real life.

According to salary.com, school nurses are paid the least, with the base salary of $46,321, staff nurses are paid within the bounds of $70,000, and nurse anesthetists are paid the most, with an average base salary of approximately $190,100. As such, it was expected since the most specialized labor type is to be paid for accordingly. The difference is affected by mostly the human capital factor that subsumes that more difficult jobs require more time to train and recruit people, and therefore the payment is higher (Milkovich et al., 2014).

The bonuses vary insignificantly from 0% to 0.6%, which, at its maximum, amounts up to $686. Despite the small bonuses, the nurses payments offer a wide range of benefits of diverse value and types such as social security, healthcare, pension, and time off. With the benefits taken into account, Nurse Anesthetists can receive a total compensation of up to $260,000. Despite the variability of wages, the benefits usually make up for 20-30% of the base salary, which is a security pay mix policy applied to practice.

If I am asked, the company that will probably have interest in me is in better position to judge the price of my skills and time; at least the salary should be discussed, not demanded. However, I would opt for a job that requires more training in specific areas such as occupational therapy or geriatric nursing and health care because the number of specialists in this area is limited and the demand for such specialists always persists; consequently, the salaries are higher. Besides, more qualified specialists can count on higher compensation for quality (Ryan et al., 2015). My success depends greatly on my skill and the demand for specialists in the area I will choose.

To conclude, it is worth noting that nurses average payment varies mostly according to the specificity of the job they do. The bonuses are surprisingly small but the benefits are significant which appears to be more secure in terms of taxation. Personally, I appreciate such payment system since the bigger the bonuses are, the bigger the taxation is.
