Organizational Behavior in the Workplace

Connection Between OB and Selected Job Skills

Organizational behavior (OB) is an extremely important aspect that impacts the functioning of all organizations. It describes how to manage people at work and what qualities and competencies might be demanded to improve cooperation among employees (Kinicki & Fugate, 2015). The matrix provided above shows a list of job skills that are critical for the OB. These aspects are directly connected with the functioning of any collective and, consequently, organizational behavior.

Communication skills are fundamental for improved cooperation among all workers as they contribute to the establishment of a better atmosphere and promote the ability to find common ground while discussing particular issues (Kinicki & Fugate, 2015). High levels of critical thinking provide workers with an opportunity to delve into complex issues, analyze them finding the most important elements and focus on their further discussion. This skill is often associated with the enhanced decision-making practices which are needed to choose the right option and contribute to its further rise. Finally, active listening and teamwork skills should also be considered regarding the OB as they are integral parts of cooperation among workers. In such a way, the given skills are critical for the functioning of any organization, which also means that they are connected with OB.

Job Skills and Improved Performance

The importance of these job skills can be evidenced by emphasizing their contribution to the improved job performance. The fact is that any employer wants to attain better results by facilitating the development of outstanding competencies and extensive knowledge. At the same time, there is a particular set of qualities that contribute to the improved functioning of multiple companies. The job skills mentioned in the matrix belong to this category. Applying critical thinking to complex issues, an employee acquires an opportunity to analyze the situation from another perspective and suggest an innovative and creative solution which is essential for improved job performance (Kinicki & Fugate, 2015). Decision-making plays a similar role as it provides individuals with an opportunity to select the best option among all available at the moment and contribute to the further development of the company. Finally, active listening, outstanding communication, and teamwork skills facilitate collaboration among all workers and cultivate a new atmosphere characterized by the absence of conflicts and high morale. In this regard, the focus on the development of these skills can help to improve job performance significantly.

OB, Decision-Making, and Problem-Solving.

The functioning of any organization presupposes the appearance of multiple problems that should be solved to guarantee its further rise. Therefore, OB suggests several effective approaches to attain improved decision-making while facing a particular issue. For instance, the 3-stop approach offers a framework for solving diverse problems. It includes three stages which are the definition of the problem, identification of the potential causes of the emergence of these complications, and suggestion of a particular course of action to eliminate the barrier (Kinicki & Fugate, 2015). This approach obviously aids my decision-making in complex situations as it contributes to improved analytical skills and shows how to analyze every problematic issue. Additionally, the application of OB can help to assess personal problem-solving skills and identify areas that should be improved. It will help to improve the overall efficiency of an employee.

Consequences of Unethical Behavior

Unethical behavior can be determined as conduct that contradicts the accepted ethical code or existing stereotypical behavioral patterns. Regarding the current values peculiar to the business world, it might include cheating, fraud, stealing, harassing, discrimination, bullying, lying, and the abuse of power. All these factors obviously promote a pernicious impact on organizations deteriorating relations within a collective and the overall functioning of the company (Kinicki & Fugate, 2015). For instance, the inappropriate conduct of an employee might trigger the growth of dissatisfaction among his/her colleagues and stimulate the emergence of numerous conflicts among team members. It will result in a decrease in performance levels and the establishment of complex relations. Additionally, the existence of tensions among employees significantly affects the functioning of an organization and its results. In the long-term perspective, the presence of this problem will cost significant sums of money and will demand much attention.
