Children can also describe the actions performed by people in pictures and classify items depending on their size, shape, and other characteristics. They easily express their opinions with simple phrases and agree or disagree with the proposed actions.

Reading skills of children at the emerging level are limited to the repetition of familiar rhymes while the teacher is reading the text and drawing according to oral instructions. They can identify words and pictures and follow directions to point at a specific object or illustration. Children successfully classify labeled illustrations from stories and match them in accordance with the received information. They can choose pictures corresponding to fairytales read by the teacher. Their writing skills primarily relate to the reproduction of simple things such as numbers or symbols as well as labeling familiar people and events. Children can connect oral language to the presented images and describe them. The words they can reproduce are the expressions of preferences and likes and dislikes as well as statements of personal choices following a model provided by the teacher.
