The United States and the World War II: Fighting on Two Fronts
The Second World War became the most significant conflict in human history. According to Shi and Tindall (2016), more than 50 million people were killed, including civilians and jews. America faced a difficult task, as they had to fight on two main fronts: the European one and the Pacific front. However, they managed to conduct military actions on two fronts for 3 key reasons: successful combat operations, rapid response to threats, and thoughtful tactical decisions.
One of the operations was the Overlord mission, which resulted in the liberation of the entire northwestern part of France. According to documentaries, lines of LCTs (Landing Craft Tanks) were delivered to Omaha Beach, Normandy. Despite a tough meeting by German troops, support fire from the ship was opened, which led to a further breakthrough. On August 31, the entire northwest part was exempted, which was an example of one of the most effective military operations and a key reason for Americas successful fight on two fronts. The bombing was also a key reason for the United States to win, according to documentaries, they became an example of thoughtful tactical decisions. For example, bombing in Tokyo with napalm, after which 16 square miles of the city was destroyed.
An example of a successful response to a threat is the events following the attack on Pearl Harbor. Shi and Tindall (2016) inform that of the eight American battleships, all were sunk or disabled, along with eleven other ships. However, this attack had a negative impact on the fascist troops in the context of prolonged hostilities. Large ships soon returned to service and played a key role in the victory, and new alliances formed after the attack helped strengthen the force. Thus, the correct response to the threat has become one of the key reasons for the successful military operations of the United States in World War II.
