The Worth of Parental Involvement in Childrens Education

Today, much attention is paid to improving the quality of childhood education, and the worth of parental involvement is currently discussed and recommended. One of the reasons to support the idea of parental engagement is to promote communication between parents, teachers, and students and enhance information exchange that affects the learning process. Among a variety of strategies to engage parents in their childrens education, communication plays an important role. According to Benner and Quirk, communication allows for keeping parents informed about their childs academic performance (Source 1).

Teachers investigate different communication channels and usually choose the most effective ones, like email, calls, and text messages. It is necessary to ensure that parents get information in several forms to understand the worth of their involvement. For example, personal communication is used to explain the details and answer questions, while written information represents the basics of cooperation and identifies each others roles. In addition, communication between parents and children during the process of education is associated with social and psychological support and supervision. Schmid and Garrels reveal warm and supportive relationships in families as the main contributor to creating a supportive environment where children learn how to fulfil the schools practical demands (Source 2).

It is not enough for parents to follow the basic needs of their children but observe what academic requirements they need to complete. Young students may share their personal concerns and fears during communication with parents and get answers to solve their problems in a short period. Therefore, addressing these examples and evaluations, parental involvement in the form of communication with teachers and children cannot be ignored as a good way to recognize obligatory academic expectations and student needs.
