The global supply chain of goods is one of the spheres deeply affected by the war. Due to various sanctions and embargoes on Russian goods, countries seek alternative ways and trade routes. In addition, the airspace of Russia has also been closed, which posed new obstacles and challenges to air transportation. Therefore, the article Tracking the air cargo industrys response to Russias war on Ukraine investigates the changes in air cargo supply chains.
Air cargo is a specific type of delivery as it is very costly and has limited capacity. But at the same time, it is the fastest way to deliver cargo from point A to point B, which makes it an essential element of the global supply chain. The article provides a detailed table detailing the changes that occurred in the operations of the largest air cargo carriers. Most of them had stopped operations in Russia and Ukraine until further notice on 24 February. Since Russia is the largest country on Earth, many air carrier routes were built in a way that crossed Russias airspace.
