Work Ethics: Communication and Cooperation
Introduction
Following work ethics is crucial for effective collaboration with colleagues while using appropriate skills and abilities is necessary for this objective. In my case, they include attendance and teamwork, and these provisions determine my success in the workplace. Therefore, adhering to the regulations related to the time spent performing tasks and their coordination with others is the most beneficial condition contributing to my professional achievements.
Communication: Attendance
The first component, attendance, is a work ethic, which allows demonstrating ones efficiency in planning. In my situation, it significantly affected my reputation in the office alongside others positive perceptions. This outcome correlates with the research, according which avoiding absenteeism or presenteeism results in improvements in organizational climate and the values that guide life within the larger organization (Kaiser 73). In this way, a favorable environment was created by my willingness to adhere to this rule.
In addition, attendance helped me and my colleagues have sufficient time to discuss the agenda. This circumstance led to the enhanced productivity of collaboration in the workplace. Morning meetings are known for addressing issues carried over from yesterday (Smith). Therefore, prioritizing this aspect of the matter was beneficial for ensuring the lack of problems with regard to unresolved challenges, which were neglected in the past.
Also, this work ethic contributed to my ability to keep a job because it affected my motivation to be at work rather than preferring to take sick leaves when they could be avoided. In other words, as per the expectancy theory, the benefits of such decisions were underpinned by their greater motivational potential (Lohaus and Habermann 3). It means that the advantages related to my productivity were more important than the possibility of having extra time out of the office.
Cooperation: Teamwork
The second work ethic, teamwork, is a more complex notion compared to attendance, and it was equally useful for improving my performance. It helped me increase my awareness of my strengths as a team member, which correlated with the need to combine efforts to understand the essence of learning in a team (Tripathy 2). In this respect, the skills, which were beneficial, included my ability to find a compromise and empathy towards others.
The results of this work were complemented by the formation of appropriate personal values, which boosted its effectiveness. In this case, they were a positive attitude towards collaboration in the workplace and everyones inclusion in the process of discussing issues and resolving them. Thus, they led to the emergence of a sense of cohesion and interdependence crucial for business results (Mustafa et al. 3). Subsequently, the coordination of individual and collective perspectives determined the success of projects.
Moreover, active participation in teamwork contributed to everyones motivation to achieve better performance. It was conditional upon increased job satisfaction, which is the consequence of establishing an ethical climate (Itani et al. 419). To put it another way, my colleagues and I significantly benefited from open, facilitated communication and trusting relationships ensured by everyones willingness to contribute (Itani et al. 419). Hence, this experience presented an optimal method for dealing with challenges.
Conclusion
To summarize, the work ethics, which allowed me to become a more competent employee, were attendance and teamwork. The former led to the effectiveness of planning and discussing issues while increasing the motivation to perform regular tasks. In turn, the latter determined the development of empathy and the ability to find a compromise alongside ensuring an ethical environment in which all participants are willing to act.
