SW 607: Week 5 Discussion
Insomnia Disorder is coded as F51.01 and is a disorder that affects people who have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep through the night, or going back to sleep after being awakened. It can affect how people behave and participate in activities and social situations. The disorder can affect children. The difficult sleep pattern must occur for up to three days per week for up to three months (APA, 2022).
Erectile Disorder is coded as F52.21 in the DSM 5. It is known that some males have this disorder because of low self-esteem and that some cases can be “fixed” without professional support. Individuals with the diagnosis must have three symptoms related to having difficulties with erection, that last for at least six months (APA, 2022)
According to Reichenberg and Seligman (2017), gender identity disorder is established by age three and has been replaced by gender dysphoria in the DSM-5. “In childhood, gender dysphoria affects boys more than girls at a ratio varying from 2:1 to 4:5:1” (Reichenberg and Seligman, 2016, p. 384). The social role, gender identity, sexuality, and body are the four dimensions of gender identity. To meet the requirements, an individual must be able to clearly distinguish between their innate gender and the gender they express; the gender incongruence must cause significant distress in important areas of functioning; the symptoms must last for at least six months; and in children, there must be an expressed desire to be a different gender.
