In this assignment, you will design an academic poster summarizing your course learning. You will analyze the essential elements required to embrace and exercise the role of a scholar-practitioner.
Step 1
Reflect on prior course work, readings, presentations, and discussions to relate the role of a scholar-practitioner to your learning and future goals.
Then, use the ACE LibraryLinks to an external site. and other scholarly or professional sources to research the scholar-practitioner model. Cite at least two sources.
Use these questions to guide your research:
How do scholars in your field embody the scholar-practitioner model?
What evidence-based characteristics and definitions support your characteristics and definition?
What models of scholar-practitioner exist in your field? What are the key differences and similarities?
Synthesize the information from the sources to develop your scholar-practitioner model.
Step 2
Brainstorm how you will visually organize your synthesized research. You may perform an online image search for relevant examples.
Your poster must contain the following sections:
Introduction concisely describing your vision of yourself as a scholar-practitioner
Background concisely addressing at least three course concepts
Discussion focusing on what it means to be a scholar-practitioner
Conclusion concisely describing why the role of scholar-practitioner is important
References (at least three sources) with APA-formatted entries
Use APA-formatted in-text citations in your Discussion section.
Step 3
Select a digital tool to design your research poster. You may use a tool of your choice or one listed in the ACE Digital Tools Center. Your tool must allow you to save your poster as a PDF.
Design your poster. Include visual elements, such as images, charts, and graphics to enhance your poster. Use a clear hierarchy of information. Employ consistent formatting and colors to ensure readability. The poster you create is a practice model. It will be simpler in information and style than one you would create for an academic conference.
