In this project, you will use the knowledge you gained in Modules 1-3 to explore how the interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors contribute to the process of learning new information.
Instructions
Identify a time in the last 5 years when you learned something new: information, a task, or a skill. For this project, choose something you’ve learned that is substantive. This could be a new concept in one of your courses (e.g., the concept of an emerging adult from a lifespan development perspective) or a challenging task at work (e.g., learning a new software, system, or how to use a piece of equipment safely). Avoid choosing something more trivial, like learning a fun fact.
Consider the biological, psychological, and social factors that played a role in your learning of this information and write a paper (1500 words minimum) that discusses the interplay of these factors. Provide specific examples of each factor and be sure to include the following:
Introduction
A description of the new information or skill you learned
Biological Factors
Describe the specific biological mechanisms, such as neurons and the structures and functions of the brain, involved in learning and how they impacted your acquisition and retention of the new information/skills you identified.
Psychological Factors
Discuss the role of cognitive processes, such as principles of learning, learning theory, memory systems, and/or retrieval, and how they impacted your acquisition and retention of the new information/skills you identified.
Social Factors
Discuss the impact of social factors, such as culture, language and/or attitudes, and how they impacted your acquisition and retention of the new information/skills you identified.
Conclusion
Summarize how the interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors contributed to your learning process.
Submit your responses in a document and provide comprehensive paragraphs of information (not just bullet points) to fully address each point as instructed. Include citations within your document as appropriate as well as a reference page. All work must be in APA format to receive maximum points. Reminder: words, data, or any external knowledge from someone else’s work should be cited (in text and on reference page). APA Citation TipsLinks to an external site.
