Working with Aristotle’s texts has given me a new appreciation for classical philosophy and how it is still very much alive in addressing modern problems. What I learned from doing so, with the classical text of Aristotle’s “Nicomachean Ethics” as my guide, was that ethics his virtue ethics a vital framework for understanding lives we should live and the kind of society we should be in, in a positively “virtuous” sense (Zavaliy 2023, 30). That much I have learned in an academic way. What I hope to achieve from here on out can be framed in terms of two outcomes that are interlinked: living virtuously and being true to oneself.
