Instructions
You can review how this assignment will be graded from the Lab Report Grading Rubric. To help you in writing Lab Report 2, please download and use the writing guideline (Lab Report 2 – Writing Guideline). First, choose a title for your lab report; then, you can write this paper by completing it in six sections: (I) Introduction, (II) Materials, (III) Methods, (IV) Results/Analysis, (V) Discussion/Conclusions, and (VI) Literature Cited.
Introduction: search the literature such as medical journals or research papers for background information about the lab. This section requires multiple paragraphs. For suggestions on the information that you should include in this section, please refer to the Lab Report 2 – Writing Guideline. Make sure you cite your reference sources, and also cross-reference back to the Literature Cited section.
Materials: provide a ″grocery″ list of all the supplies and reagents for each of the experiments that you have performed. This section requires multiple lists. For suggestions on the lists that you should include in this section, please refer to the Lab Report 2 – Writing Guideline.
Methods: describe the details on how you have performed each of the experiments. This section requires multiple paragraphs. For suggestions on the information that you should include in this section, please refer to the Lab Report 2 – Writing Guideline. Make sure you use past, passive voice when writing your methods. For example, instead of using this sentence ″I carefully lowered the hydrometer into the jar.″, you can rewrite it as ″The hydrometer was carefully lowered into the jar.″, because personal pronouns such as ″he, she, I, we and they″ must be avoided when writing in past, passive voice.
Results/Analysis: report your results in the form of figures, tables or charts. Since only one file is allowed for your assignment submission, please attach all the results (drawings, photos, tables, etc.) in your lab report! When presenting each figure, table or chart, make sure to include a paragraph to describe your result. For suggestions on the results that you should include in this section, please refer to the Lab Report 2 – Writing Guideline. Data from page 15 of the Carolina Lab Manual should be included in this section.
Discussion/Conclusions: interprets the results from your experiment. For example, if the specific gravity of the real urine is 1.3, what does that mean? Is this high or low? This section requires multiple paragraphs. For suggestions on the information that you should include in this section, please refer to the Lab Report 2 – Writing Guideline.
Literature Cited: provide a minimum of five references using APA citation style.
