Throughout all the history of development of society people have always suffered from different diseases. These illnesses made the life of people miserable and unhappy. That is why, people tried to find some way in which they could avert illness or cure a person.

Great number of efforts were devoted to this question in order to solve the problem. Additionally, it should be said that due to the difference in mentalities of people, who lived in various regions, different points of view and different ways to cure people appeared and became popular.

The Western world developed the practices which became known as traditional medicine. However, in some regions another practice obtained popularity and nowadays, at least half million people believe in the power of Ayurvedic Medicine (Ayurvedic Medicine., n.d.). The movie Second Opinion with T. R. Reid: Inside Ayurvedic Medicine is devoted to this very issue.

The whole movie centers around the experience of T. Reid, a reporter who decided to investigate the main issues of this kind of medicine in order to understand whether it is really efficient and can help people (Palfreman Film Group, n.d.). The movie is rather informative and it suggests firsthand experience of a person who is rather skeptic, thought, who wants to investigate the issue and understand it.

Surprisingly, it turns out that this kind of medicine has very developed infrastructure and scientific approach to the issue of health care. The movie presents a viewer a great number of facts about Ayurvedic medicine and different ways in which people are healed. Additionally, comments of the reporter make some moments more interesting and clear.

Watching the video, it is impossible not to get involved in the issue. It becomes obvious that Ayurvedic medicine is closely connected with religious and philosophical ideas and beliefs of people who live in the area. The first book, devoted to the issue, was written almost three thousand years ago (Ayurvedic Medicine: An Introduction, n.d).

However, it is still relevant and people still use practices described there. However, from the video it becomes obvious that nowadays it is rather modern and well organized practice which attracts hundreds of people all over the world. It should be said that I did not have much information about this issue before watching the video. Moreover, my image of Ayurvedic medicine was based on some traditional prejudices and stereotypes and was associated with low quality and primitive services. However, this video changed this image completely.

First of all, it should be said that the most surprising thing is the way in which the whole issue is organized. It is rather professional. Moreover, people who work there have to spend great part of their life studying the main aspects of Ayurvedic medicine. That is why, it is possible to say that these people are not charlatans and really love their business and devote much efforts to self-improvement.

Moreover, people who work at these hospitals are respected by population as they help them. Additionally, it really works as there is a great number of people who feel better after the procedures peculiar to this kind of medicine.

Having watched the video, it is possible to make a certain conclusion. First of all, it should be said that the issue of Ayurvedic medicine is rather interesting and has a great number of its unusual peculiarities which make it a unique phenomenon. The video helps to create more reliable image of this practice and become interested in it.
