Social Changes Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic

It is not the first time in the history that humanity has been confronted with infectious diseases that cover large areas. Pandemics have changed the course of history, with social, economic, and political consequences. The COVID-2019 pandemic has affected all areas of society, and from the experience gained, people should draw the appropriate conclusions in order to avoid this in the future.

Epidemics and their associated social restrictions, such as isolation, have affected many areas of society. People were influenced in different ways depending on the field of their activity. For example, based on the requirements for physical presence at work and real interpersonal contacts, as opposed to telecommuting opportunities, people have experienced various changes in their daily lives. Because some workers had to be fully trained to work from home, some could even lose their jobs due to the impossibility of remote work, such as in service industries.

Practices such as self-isolation, social distancing, the use of protective equipment such as masks, gloves, constant washing of hands, or their treatment with disinfectants began to spread and gain a foothold in everyday life. Such daily practices as handshakes, kisses, and hugs have changed. During the meeting, people either avoided bodily greetings or used new forms of greetings. In the context of the pandemic, social distance is considered a non-drug sanitary and epidemiological measure aimed at separating and slowing down the spread of infection. Social distancing generates a sense of isolation, loneliness, and a feeling of being one on one with a threat to health.

Public health is an important part of countrys health care system. It includes doctor, who is committed to promoting well-being in persons life by preventing illness or health problems from developing. When disease outbreaks occur, the role of public health becomes even greater as everyone look to these officials as a trusted source of health information.

It can be concluded that the pandemic has directly affected the behavior of people in society. During the peak of COVID-2019, behavior began to change to a more cautious one, avoiding contact with other people, moving to remote work whenever possible. A large-scale vaccination campaign against a viral infection was also launched. Only by such methods in most countries it was possible to suppress the pandemic and achieve its suspension. In the context of the pandemic, society is transforming, becoming a security society from consumer society.
