Environment of Lincoln Park in New Jersey
I was privileged to visit Lincoln Park in New Jersey, which had magnificent scenery. Lincoln Park has trails, playgrounds, a golf course, and several community gardens which offer in-depth ecological insights. The neighboring environment exhibits a vibrant cultural scene, with plenty of art galleries and music venues, making the place an iconic place to visit. With its convenient location and many amenities, Lincoln Park is an ideal destination for anyone looking for a peaceful space to meditate or spend quality discovering nature. The entire ecosystem is functionally adapted to survive the selective pressure and maintain the ecological balance.
The park is nestled in a large, wooded area in the heart of the garden estate. The terrain is primarily flat, with a small creek running through the park and several small ponds in the surrounding area. Various trees, shrubs, and other vegetation are growing throughout the area, providing a habitat for wildlife. As I observe the wildlife in the area, I notice various birds, including robins, cardinals, bluejays, and sparrows. I also spot several squirrels, rabbits, and chipmunks running around, scurrying to look for food or a safe place to hide. I also see a variety of insects, such as bees and butterflies, buzzing around the area.
I observed the environment further and noticed the diverse plants growing in the area. There were different trees and shrubs, including maple, oak, and pine. Numerous wildflowers and grasses, including dandelions, clovers, and daisies, adapted to the environment to avoid extinction by shedding and sometimes changing into seeds to ensure they keep the moisture and nutrients needed during cold seasons. The trees are mostly oaks, pines, and maples to survive the environment considering that the city has a continental climate, which makes the shrubs burst with evergreen hollies. The trees and shrubs provide a forest canopy that protects the area from the sun and wind. The ground is covered in grasses, clovers, and other wildflowers. The soil is moist and nutrient-rich, considering the various plants growing within that environment. The grasses and clovers provide food and shelter for small animals, while wildflowers provide nectar that attracts birds and other pollinators, indicating dependence.
The pond in the park is full of life, considering that the water is home to various fish, amphibians, and reptiles. The water is also home to many species of insects, including dragonflies and water striders. The pond provides food for many bird species, such as ducks and geese. The deer have adapted to the environment by learning to hide in the forest and forage in the open areas. The squirrels and rabbits have adapted to the environment by learning to hide in the thick.
Various sounds that can be heard in Lincoln Park in New Jersey include birds chirping in the trees and creating melodic sounds, a form of communication to attract mates. The call of seagulls as they soar above the shoreline indicates that there is food within the shoreline since they are natural scavengers. In the afternoon, squirrels chattering and scampering can be heard as they make their way up trees, probably taking cover from a predator. The croaking of frogs can be heard as they call out to one another and the sound of crickets chirping as they keep the place alive with their melodic sounds.
Animals and plants at Lincoln Park in New Jersey have adapted to the changing seasons over time. During the winter, many animals migrate south or hibernate, while others grow thicker coats of fur or feathers for insulation. When I visited there during winter, trees and other plants entered dormancy, shedding their leaves and slowing their growth cycles. The rustling of leaves also indicated that it was a season of low temperatures whereby plants entered a period of rest, resulting in shedding. During the spring, animals return, trees and plants begin to bud and bloom, and flowers bloom. As summer approaches, many animals become more active, and the park is blooming. The plants and animals in the park have adapted to the changing temperatures and longer days, utilizing the resources available to thrive and survive.
Adaptation is integral for the survival of all species considering that it helps them change with the environmental shifts to avoid extinction. Animals adapt in parks in various ways to maintain their ecosystem. They develop behaviors that are appropriate to the environment and that helps them survive. For example, animals may hide in the grass to avoid predators or forage for food in the parks resources. They may also establish territories or migrate to different areas to find better food sources. In addition, animals may form social groups to protect each other or use camouflage to remain unseen by predators. These adaptations help animals survive in the park and live a balanced and healthy life. Generally, the parks beautiful scenery, peaceful atmosphere, and great amenities make it a great spot to relax and take in some fresh air and insights about the environment.
