Still I Rise, was written by African American poet whose name was Maya Angelou (1928 to 2014).

Here poet has a bold belief in herself that she cannot be discriminated on the means of colour and that nobody took away her rights and freedom from her. The people who are white in colour dont have any right to make a discrimination of humanity on the basis of the color only. and the racial discrimination has its roots in slavery and hence thereby subsided till date. through this poem, the poet gives a voice through her poem presenting all black people in the country.

The poems first word You have different importance in itself. This is a poem clearly addressed for others. An apex amount of its energy derives from its boldness and assertiveness. Clearly pointed to the white bullies of black persons, the poem presents us with a black woman with a will and dares to speak up for herself and for other living blacks, The poem is both highly political and highly personal. The speaker is indirectly answering to eras and even centuries of cruelty and abuse. Her tone never sounds arrogant or self-assured. Instead, most readers are likely to feel huge kindness with her brave refusal of further cruelty.

The poem is a response to this kind of cruel writing. The speaker changes writing to one of the most significant means of power into a weapon of freedom. The poem does not begin by focusing physical overthrow and violence. Besides this, it begins by stressing the ways the wrong kinds of writing can imprison both bullies and the worried. First, those who would help release blacks challenge the thinking of their bullies.

In a line of the poem the first reference to actual physical cruelty in the line of the poem You may tread me in the very dirt, but the phrasing seems more symbolic. The reference to term dust is effective in various types. It implies that something simply seen as negative can be positive. It implies that something seen as merely difficult can actually possess a kind of strength. It suggests that something is easy to control simply because of its simplification.
