The Nursing Education Development
Nursing is an essential area of the healthcare system dealing with the prevention and prevention of diseases, assistance to doctors, and patient care. The work of nurses is one of the most responsible since it is nurses who take care of patients, their well-being, monitor treatment and the recovery process, and communicate with relatives of people treated in medical institutions. For the nurses work to be practical, they need to update and improve their knowledge through training constantly. Although the nursing profession has existed for a long time, there are still more new areas of training and work with patients that need to be studied with the help of education.
Nursing is one of the oldest professions that has undergone significant changes over time due to the development of medicine. As a profession, nursing originated in the mid-19th century, and the founder was Florence Nightingale, who also offered to organize an educational process for nurses (Cohen, 2022). Before training was introduced, women were hired without special training. In the 20th century, women began to be taught basic skills in providing medical care to patients (Cohen, 2022). In addition, they studied medical etiquette, and a uniform style of nurses clothing was introduced.
Florence Nightingale created two levels of education for nurses, namely practical and professional nurses, which was the impetus for the development of nursing within higher education. Later, a two-year nursing training program was offered to prepare women for patient care. However, this time was not enough to produce solid professionals, and in the second half of the 20th century, it was decided to produce nurses according to the masters program (Jeffries, 2022). Over time, other areas of nursing training were introduced, which increasingly deepened knowledge in the nursing field. These areas include certified nurses with advanced practice and Doctor of Nursing Sciences.
Currently, the value and need for higher-education nurses are high. In this regard, there is an increasing demand for training nurses and their regular updating and deepening of knowledge. One of the most successful modern forms of nurse training is online training (Jeffries, 2022). Thanks to the latest technologies, nurses can complete training and improve their knowledge on the job, which is especially important when working full-time. Online training helps to get even academic degrees and thereby enhances the efficiency of medical institutions (Jeffries, 2022). In addition to online training, nurses can study using videos, for example, on YouTube video hosting. There are many visual video instructions that help nurses improve their skills and knowledge. Previously, due to the lack of technology, nurses did not have such training and improvement opportunities. Modern nurses have a higher level of knowledge and skills; thus, nursing is growing and developing.
In conclusion, nursing was developed in the middle of the 19th century thanks to Florence Nightingale, who became the founder of nursing and the parent of the idea of nursing education. Previously, the task of nurses was only to care for patients, but over time, the number of functions has increased, as has the importance of the nursing profession. To improve nursing qualifications, the education system has evolved and become more profound and more extensive. Modern nurses can receive academic degrees, work in various industries, and receive training online and through video instructions. The importance of the nursing profession is increasing and becoming more significant, and patient care is becoming more efficient and better.
